SEPTEMBER 2024

And here we are back in September. It seems like only a short while ago I was in this special time of the year that sees the changing of so many things—from seasons to school years, election matters to upcoming end of year focuses along with next year considerations and planning… And yet we continue our constant circling, returning us to similar places and thoughts as we continue the push onward and hopefully every upward.

And for myself while there are some similar things to this time of the year I’m also looking at something new—a new title publishing the 24th of this month. Entitled, Rainier’s Legacy, it’s been a long time coming in many ways. Written years ago it was my first foray into the short story genre. It took a bit of getting used to at the time as I was coming off of writing longer stories of a more epic scope. Having a change to something more focused and smaller scale in terms of cast and challenges required a bit of a learning curve, but was worth it in the end. The lessons learned helped hone my craft and improved what I wrote next in several ways.

With a new book, of course, comes a new book tour and promotional camapign, which I’m sure you’ve all seen part of to some extent if you’ve been following social media. You can also see where I’ll be by checking the events page. It’s going to be busy but fun and, I trust, productive for all involved. This is also going to be a unique experiance as Rainier’s Legacy is a completely stand alone title. So it’s a great jumping on point for new readers and fans besides and the stories collected run the gamut of generes, covering horror, comedy, along with some adventure.

What I liked about Corwyn Danther, our protagonist for these tales, is his unique take on life. While holding a more pacificistic view, he often tends to find himself in some interesting situations. And that was also a challenge I enjoyed: “how does he resolve these matters without brute force?” So much of what I had written up until then had people just fighting out it in one way or the other and now we had a figure who didn’t want to go that route. It certainly made for interesting solutions and helped showcase other parts of Tralodren and characters we wouldn’t have seen any other way.

As you can probably tell, I’m excited to get a chance to share it with the world very soon. It will also be coming out in audio and digital formats, if that was your prefered format for stories. You can learn more about it here, and if so inclined you can preorder it whereever books are sold. I look forward to meeting some of you in the weeks ahead as we begin our march to the end of 2024.
